Recommendation of Gaz-System S.A.

Gaz-System S.A., the national gas transmission system operator and investor in the construction of the FSRU Terminal in the Gulf of Gdańsk, recommends the research tools (FindFISH, CSI-POM, WaterPUCK) developed by the team led by Prof. Dr. Hab. Lidia Dzierzbicka-Głowacka for conducting environmental impact studies of offshore construction projects on the marine environment.

The application of these tools enabled precise modelling of ecological and hydrodynamic processes, as well as analysis of nutrient dispersion in the investment area. The developed models were positively evaluated by environmental supervision authorities and are used in environmental monitoring processes and in supporting the construction of the FSRU Terminal.

Opinion of the Department of Ecological Research

The company uses tools developed by the Institute of Oceanology of the Polish Academy of Sciences (IO PAN) within the FindFISH, WaterPUCK, and CSI-POM 1&2 projects to support decision-making under environmental supervision, ensuring that construction works (including the protective breakwater of the FSRU Terminal) comply with environmental decisions.

The developed modules enable the assessment of threats to the ichthyofauna of the Gulf of Gdańsk, the dispersion of pollutants, as well as the direction and velocity of water mass movement in the marine environment.

Statement of MR Consulting sp. z o.o. Environmental

Thanks to the models of the WaterPUCK system (3D EcoPuckBay Model, including hydrodynamic, biochemical, and nutrient dispersion modules), the CSI-POM 1&2 system (3D CEMBS-PolSea Model for Polish marine areas), and the FindFISH platform (EcoFish Model and Fish Module), we obtain reliable grounds for environmental risk assessment and for issuing recommendations.

These include decisions on the temporary suspension of works when environmental threats are identified, as well as the continuation of works when no such risks are present.

Statement of FABE POLSKA sp. z o.o.

The models of the FindFISH platform (EcoFish Model, Fish Module), the 3D CEMBS model for the Baltic Sea, the WaterPUCK system (hydrodynamic, biochemical, and nutrient dispersion modules), as well as the CSI-POM 1&2 system (3D CEMBS-PolSea Model for Polish marine areas), are used to assess the environmental impact of ongoing investments.

These solutions have been highly rated by environmental supervision authorities as effective tools supporting construction works at the gas terminal in full compliance with applicable environmental decisions.
