LETTER OF INTENT
regarding cooperation between:
The Ecohydrodynamic Processes Modeling Laboratory of the Institute of Oceanology of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Sopot, represented by:
Prof. Lidia Dzierzbicka-Głowacka, DSc
and
The Faculty of Oceanography and Geography of the University of Gdańsk, based in Gdynia, represented by:
Dr. Katarzyna Smolarz, Associate Professor – Dean
hereinafter referred to as “FOG UG”,
collectively referred to as the “Parties”, as follows:
- Intention to cooperate: Both Parties intend to establish scientific and research cooperation in the following areas:
- functioning of the marine ecosystem of the Southern Baltic in Polish maritime areas,
- determining the structure, dynamics, and spatiotemporal variability of physical and biochemical processes occurring in the marine environment of the Southern Baltic using tools developed within projects based on numerical modeling.
- Form of cooperation: The cooperation of both Parties will involve:
- joint implementation of previously agreed research projects,
- acquisition of funding for project implementation,
– with specific project implementation conditions to be defined in separate agreements.
- Right to use digital tools: Under this Letter of Intent, the Faculty of Oceanography and Geography of the University of Gdańsk acquires the right to free and unlimited use of the digital systems CSI-POM and CSI-POM2 (www.csipom.pl and www.csipom2.pl). These systems serve as tools for observing changes in the marine environment, integrating data on marine ecosystems, hydrodynamics, and biochemical processes in Polish Baltic waters. Specific usage conditions may be defined in a separate agreement.
- Nature of the Letter of Intent: This Letter of Intent:
- does not constitute grounds for any claims or obligations to conclude a preliminary agreement, final agreement, or other arrangements, unless both Parties express such intent in a separate document,
- is solely declarative in nature, reflecting the Parties’ intention to cooperate.
- Duration: This Letter of Intent is concluded for an indefinite period, with the possibility of termination by either Party with one month’s notice.
- The Parties appoint coordinators to implement the objectives of this Letter of Intent:
- FOG UG Coordinator: Katarzyna Smolarz – Dean of the Faculty of Oceanography and Geography;
- IO PAN Coordinator: Lidia Dzierzbicka-Głowacka – Head of the Ecohydrodynamic Processes Modeling Laboratory at the Institute of Oceanology PAS, Project Leader of CSI-POM and CSI-POM2.
- Any amendments to this Letter of Intent must be made in writing under pain of nullity.

hereinafter referred to as “PRS”,
collectively referred to as the “Parties”, as follows:
- The intention of both Parties is to establish scientific and research cooperation in the following areas:
- functioning of the marine ecosystem of the Southern Baltic in Polish maritime areas,
- determining the structure, dynamics, and spatiotemporal variability of physical and biochemical processes in the marine environment of the Southern Baltic using tools developed within projects based on numerical modeling.
- The cooperation of both Parties will involve:
- joint implementation of previously agreed research projects,
- acquisition of funding for project implementation,
– with specific conditions of project implementation to be defined in separate agreements.
- Under this Letter of Intent, Polish Register of Shipping S.A. acquires the right to free and unlimited use of the digital systems CSI-POM and CSI-POM2 (www.csipom.pl and www.csipom2.pl). These systems serve as tools for monitoring changes in the marine environment, integrating data on marine ecosystems, hydrodynamics, and ecological processes in Polish Baltic waters. Specific usage conditions may be defined in a separate agreement.
- This Letter of Intent:
- does not constitute grounds for any claims or obligations to conclude a preliminary agreement, final agreement, or other arrangements, unless both Parties express such intent in a separate document,

Partnership Agreement on Non-Financial Cooperation between the Interested Parties:
THE ECOHYDRODYNAMIC PROCESSES MODELLING LABORATORY of the Institute of Oceanology of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Sopot
and
the Institute of Geography of the Pomeranian University in Słupsk regarding scientific research and education in the field of:
- the functioning of the marine ecosystem of the Southern Baltic Sea for the Polish maritime areas,
- the identification of the structure, dynamics, and spatiotemporal variability of physical and biochemical processes occurring in the marine environment of the Southern Baltic Sea using tools developed within the project based on numerical modelling.
The parties to the agreement agree to the free use of the CSI-POM and CSI-POM2 services (www.csipom.pl and www.csipom2.pl). The developed system is intended to be useful for scientists as well as entities related to the maritime economy and education.

the Maritime Office in Gdynia,
jointly referred to as the Parties,
as follows:
- The Parties intend to undertake scientific and R&D cooperation in the scope of:
- the functioning of the marine ecosystem of the Southern Baltic Sea for Polish maritime areas,
- identifying the structure, dynamics, and spatiotemporal variability of physical processes occurring in the marine environment of the Southern Baltic Sea using tools developed within the project based on numerical modelling,
- assessing optimal hydro-technical and hydrodynamic conditions for undertaken initiatives and while planning coastal protection systems.
- The cooperation will be based on the joint implementation of mutually agreed projects.
- Upon signing this Letter of Intent, the Maritime Office shall be granted indefinite, free access to the CSI-POM and CSI-POM2 services (www.csi.pom.pl and www.csipom2.pl), a tool for observing changes in the marine environment. This right may be terminated with one month’s notice.
- This Letter of Intent does not constitute a commitment nor an obligation to make a commitment, except as stated in point 3.
- This Letter of Intent does not form the basis for any claims except as stated in point 3, nor does it constitute a preliminary agreement or an obligation to conclude any contract, agreement, or declaration of specific content, unless both Parties explicitly agree otherwise.
- This Letter of Intent is concluded for an indefinite period, with the possibility of termination with one month’s notice.

the Maritime Office in Szczecin regarding scientific and R&D activities in the field of:
- The functioning of the marine ecosystem of the Southern Baltic Sea for the Polish maritime areas.
- The identification of the structure, dynamics, and spatiotemporal variability of physical processes occurring in the marine environment of the Southern Baltic Sea using tools developed within the project based on numerical modelling.
- Assessing optimal hydro-technical and hydrodynamic conditions for undertaken initiatives and in coastal protection system planning.
Additionally, the parties agree on free access to the CSI-POM and CSI-POM2 services (www.csipom.pl). The CSI-POM system responds to challenges in the maritime economy related to the need for reliable and accurate tools for observing changes in the marine environment.

- identifying the structure, dynamics, and spatiotemporal variability of physical processes occurring in the marine environment of the Southern Baltic Sea using tools developed within the project based on numerical modelling.
Additionally, the parties agree on free access to the CSI-POM and CSI-POM2 services (www.csipom.pl). The CSI-POM system addresses challenges in the maritime economy associated with the need for a reliable and accurate tool to monitor changes in the marine environment.

Additionally, the parties agree on free access to the CSI-POM service.
